    Default Low scent AS?

I tried some Afta AS because it was on sale at my local drugstore for a low price. My first thought was man this stuff smells strong. Four hours later my wife said "You smell like my grandfather. You aren't getting any luvin' until you take a shower."

I am looking for something that has a cooling effect (the more the better) with a light scent or one that fades quickly.

Any recommendations are appreciated...except for Old Spice recommendations. That will just get me into the no luvin'/shower predicament again.

I have an idea for you before you spend a lot of money on after shaves and increase your water bill: why don't you ask your wife what she would like you to smell like and then we try to help you ;-).

I can recommend Dr. Harris Pink after shave. It's not the cheapest one but definately a good quality stuff which fades away quickly.
    Proraso splash is another.

Speick is one to fade away quickly what I have read and it's in my 09 shopping list.

AOS (Art of Shaving) Unscented should fit your bill. Pricey, but nice. Do not try their sandalwood stuff. I did today, and I still smell like a pair of sandals worn by woodworker for many, many years. Horrible stuff.

Like Tony, I also love the Harris Pink. However, of late I find myself tending to use more of the unscented, alcohol-free balms similar to the one mentioned in the previous post. My personal favorite I happen to sell, so I will refrain from mentioning it by name within the confines of this sub-forum. But the reason I have found myself using this product can apply to the class in general.

First of all, I have been avoiding products containing alcohol, which tend to dry out my skin, particularly in colder weather. Secondly, I am a big fan of colognes and like to use a different one every day. Most of the shaving creams and soaps that I use do have a fragrance, but that scent does not carry much beyond the shave itself. If it does, Ill use the cologne of EDT that match the cream. For the most part though, an unscented aftershave balm is just the perfect thing for me. A good one will not only sooth the skin but will also replenish lost oils and moisturize the skin. I will admit that if I'm going outside, I add another layer of moisturizer with an SPF over the balm after it's been absorbed. And then of course, because the balm is unscented I don't have another layer of fragrance on which to layer my cologne.

All this probably sounds a little OCD. But hey, aren't we all.

    Jim,

My retentive nature insists that I avoid anything that contains OCDs.

Stephan's Alpine Menthol will fit the bill. It's very cooling and it has no scent or very little scent since it's got lavender oil in it. The scent is gone within minutes and you're skin is well toned. Add to that the fact that it's dirt cheap and I think you'll really like it.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,
    EL

Thanks for the pointers guys. As to the first question by Al Raz. My wife is pretty tolerant of most scents as long as they are not knocking her over from ten feet away, remind her of anybody older than her dad, or make her think I have been to a cheap brothel.

That Stephans Menthol sounds like it may just be the ticket as well as the Harris Pink.

Jim this is a direct personal question so nobody can say you are pimping your products. What is your favorite AS and why is it your fave? I apologize if you think I am being too forward.

Please refrain from giving Jim a hard time. I am looking for information and advice. I post this in the open rather than a PM because somebody else may appreciate Jim's opinion.
