    Default Pre Shave Help

I was looking through the forum for info on Pre Shaves, like Castle Forbes and Proraso. Does anyone have an opinion one way or another. Proraso vs Castle Forbes or any other for that matter. I've used both and I'm not really sure that they make a difference. If you apply a Hot Towel before and after, am I negating the effect?

I am by no means knocking any of the great pre-shaves out there, but for me, on my face, just plain ole' Noxema then a few steaming towels gives me the best results...

    Hey Zib,

I can't say that I've tried CF, but I do have the Proraso pre/post, and in my opinion it works very well. I use it as a pre-shave (since you know what it smells like you'll also know that it would probably overpower and/or clash with most after shaves if used post-shave), and IMO I find it makes my face smoother. I also like the cooling, soothing effect it has on my skin, but that's just my opinion.

Agreed, I do like the cooling sensation it gives. What's funny is, Glen mentioned Noxema, Proraso is very close to Noxema IMO. I guess what I need to do is not use either next time I shave and see for myself what I'm missing.

I just added two examples how to combine things.

I'm not sure if you mean proraso pre shave cream but what I have used it is not the most effective way to protect skin. Like mentioned cooling sensation is in there and feels good but the vicks vaporub scent is way too much overwhelming. Sometimes it's a great kickstart in the morning.
