I want to buy a good aftershave
I wanto to buy something good, I see Truffit Hill, Trumpers all for around $40 . What is the deal with west Indian lime is it really good stuff or something? What are some other good After Shaves. I like something that is not so strong, I got kinda burned out in Pinaud because it so strong and it lasts all day, I find that I dont really like it anymore. I have used some shave milks and they smell great but after an hr I dont smell them at all. So Im looking for something that smells good and is mild.

Thanked: 1903Skin differs widely between humans. I would try and obtain a few samples, then decide based on the reaction of your skin to it. That and, of course, smell.

This is like the discussion of the best soaps. Really good for me may be something you wouldn't like. Given that, I like the scents from Caswell-Massey, TOBS, Ogallala, and Brummel. These have very nice scents, which are not long lasting. The latter is important to me. I am very sure those already mentioned above are very good too. Figure out what scents you want then dive in.

Have you tried Speick from Germany? It has excellent healing qualities and nice smell. It is not very common in North America, I know that in Canada Fendrihan.com carries it.

Mike, are you looking for something that loses its scent quickly? Are you concerned about skin "conditioning" properties?
Speick is indeed and excellent a/s. It has a light citrus/herbal scent that fades quickly and doesn't clash with colognes.
DR Harris is also one of my favorites. The Sandalwood is spicy and tangy and treats the skin well. I haven't tried their other scents, but will
The one T&H a/s I've tried has a great scent (Trafalgar), but left my skin very dry. YMMV
Samples, samples and more samples.

I've been using Dominica Bay Rum. It's got a mild, yet slightly spiced scent. It does fade after time, which doesn't bother me.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

I didnt realise that most everyone sells samples, I need to order some . I wasnt crazy about Dr Harris soap scents so Im not sure Im going to like there after shaves.
I am going to look into Speik , sounds like something I would like, I do like a scent that fades but does not totally go away, I like my girl to be able to smell it only when she gets close to me.

Wayne I got kinda sick of bay rum becasue I started off with Pinaud and I just hated the smell, but recently have been giving some other Bay rums a try and there are some I really like. As a matter of fact last night I ordered a bottle from Sue at the St Charles store , its called Bay Run with a twist. She is in the vendors section of this forum.

Musgo Real may be a good choice. It's mild and has a lasting scent. It's patchouli & vetiver, if I remember correctly. Comes in a lotion and balm.
I have the old formula that came in a cork accented bottle and box. The current stuff supposedly can get sticky if over applied. Many suggest having your face still wet to mitigate that.
