Bay Rum
I want to try out some bay rum aftershave, I found this.
Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum | Walgreens
I wanted to get this and I found another one thats more expensive.
Amazing Shaving Bay Rum Aftershave
Now what I want to know is the Clubman bay rum good? I don't want to get a bottle of it just because its cheaper and end up not liking it. I was just confused about the price difference.\
Sorry if this was a stupid post.

I've got the Pinaud and it's a good bay rum.

Bay Rum comes in all sort of different qualities and price ranges reflecting these differences. Usually, the more expensive examples are more complex, and some times, have longer lasting power. In the Caribbean where Bay Rum is indigenous, it is not commonly used as an after shave or a cologne. People use it for headaches and other "medicinal" purposes. Besides the Bay Rum I make, which is pretty good, perhaps Royall is the best one I have used. I have a bunch of them. Dominica is also pretty popular but it fades really fast. Another great example is St. Johns but it is fairly expensive. I have said several times that I am yet to find a Bay Rum that I do not like. Thanked: 3715 - Try "Master Bay Rum". It's a little on the clove side but I like it. I don't wear bay rum because of its lack of staying power rather I pour it over dried out coffee beans I keep in a can that holes punched in one end inside the cabinet under the sink. One small bottle keeps the bathroom smelling of bay rum for months on end. Plus if you like it you can buy it by the gallon for about $30.

Thanked: 1I use the Dominica, it is the first Bay Rum that I have tried but I enjoy it. Also I put a half a capful in my Uber Lather mix to give a touch of aromatics. Try It!! Good Luck

Thanked: 20I find the Pinaud/Clubman absolutely repulsive. Definitely try a sampler in-store, if possible. To me, it smells way too concentrated... not a subtle one. The spices' odour just infects your nostrils and nasal canal until you just need to puke it out. That's quite a graphic sentiment but it is really how I feel about that particular product.

Glen has an amazing list of various bay rums here:

I've only used the Royall as I picked it up in a retail store and I love it. I'm interested in trying Captain Smith's next.
EDIT: Whoops, just realized Doc posted the same link.Last edited by commiecat; 11-30-2009 at 09:38 PM.
