    Default Trumpers skin food

So I keep hearing great things about this product. Little more expensive than what I'm used to. What's so great about this product versus some of the other after shaves? Can it be used to treat razor burn between shaves if you only shave once every few days? Can it be applied to a wet face or just directly?

I like SF because it's not too heavy like some of the balms. On days when my A/S splash is too drying, I follow up with a little SF. It's slightly more liquid than gel, so I wouldn't put it on a wet face. I think it treats burn as well as anything and almost creates a "sealed" feeling. Some say it leaves their face feeling tacky, but that isn't the case for me. It also serves well as a preshave. You might try contacting Trumper, and asking if they would send you a sample. They sent me some a couple years ago when they introduced the Lime and Sandalwood flavors. Enjoy!

    Default Trumper's Skin Food

    Hello, Salazch:

I use Trumper's Rose Skin Food as an aftershave balm, following an application of Thayers Medicated Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera. After cleaning, drying, stropping and oiling the razor, and after cleaning the brush, the shave mug and the sink area, then I apply aftershave. By the then the fragrance of the skin food has settled and does not interfere with that of the aftershave.

I like the rose scent, of course, and the light, non-greasy texture of the Trumper's. The rest of it is intangible: it just feels good on my Hollywood face.

I am not sure what takes care of razor burn; I have not had one for years. If you are still getting razor burn, examining your razor technique and the razor's cutting edge are probably the best remedy. Obviously, cold water, witch hazel and skin food will be of some help.

    Regards,
    Obie

God knows how it works, but boy it does on my skin.
I think it seals the new skin cells, within a few minutes of application, any irritation is gone, also very moisturising.
200ml has lasted me easily 12 months, worth every penny of £17 sterling. Need to re order soon, will go for sandlewood or lime.

It's a good quality balm that can be used after shaving and can be used as a pre shave also. I don't know that it does burn all that much though. The best product for burn that I know of is Thayers Super hazel. That stuff will stop all but the worst burn dead in its tracks...for awhile.

I really like this product and have been using for some time. It is a little expensive, but I find that one large drop in the palm of my hand is perfect for cheeks, neck and forhead. I always use it after an alcohol after shave.

I use sandalwood skin food as an AS balm and it works brilliantly! I really can't recommend it enough, it soothes, tones and refreshes my face after the shave.

I only use AS on the sides of my neck for the scent.

You can order a sample pack from trumpers which has skin food, shaving cream and colognes to try out. Definately worth a look if you're thinking of getting some skin food and want to try before you buy...!

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

i have been using skin food ( limes ) for almost a year, a little goes a long way. I was watching a barber video and he said that he adds a little of his alcohol based AS 3 or 4 drops to the skinfood in the palm of his hand and applys to face, NO burn at all using this method and your all done and smelling sweet!! it leaves the face smooth and dry.

I love my Trumpers skin food but corn huskers is an excellent alternative at a fraction of the cost. Some don't like the scent. It has never bothered me at all. On the contrary, I find it a bit limey scented.

    Salazch,

Some witch hazel with a dollop of glycerin & aloe vera will probably do you as well, in addition to being much cheaper.

Skin Food contains a gum, which helps to 'seal' the face; if you can do without this, then use the mix above

    Have fun !

    regards

    Russ
