I think it's a fairly simple formula that's worked for about hundred years. The rose water is pretty nice for the skin, it's a bit antiseptic. The scent isn't overpowering and at least on me doesn't stay too long, which I consider a good thing. Not my ideal rose, but not bad.
I never thought the cost is terrible, but I don't care much if it costs me 1c/shave versus 0.1c/shave, it's negligible on the scale of all other spending with the standard of living in US.
Trumper's used to offer a sampling of their products for $5 to cover the shipping, that's the best way to go.

I use CSF, The Lime SF and the Sandalwood. They're all good. A little goes a long way. It is thinner in consistency than most AS Balms, but works very well. It's a keeper...

    I got this on Tuesday:

Barclay Crocker, Inc.: Geo F. Trumper Sample Set II - 15 Cologne Vials, 7 Shave Creams & 3 Skin Foods

I've wanted to try Skin Food for a long time. Just tried the Sandalwood. I'll be placing an order next week.....probably from a lower cost site

Can't wait to try the Lime and Coral this weekend.

I've been curious if skin food was a Trumper's original. Is it a product made by other companies of the past? When I first heard of it and seen the bright yellow and pink of GFT I thought it must have been a modern concoction. MikeB
