Pashana Aftershave
Gentlemen:
I just checked the site for The Invisible Edge in the UK. The only selection of Pashana I see is American Bay Rum. I dislike Bay Rum. In my original post, I had spoken of the Pashana "original." Unless Steve has the original, I don't know. Connaught, however, carries the original.
Regards,
Obie

Obie,
Many apologies; you are quite right
Mr Dempster stocks the Bay Rum & The Eau deCologne, whereas Connaught Shaving stocks a more complete range !
Have fun !
Best regards

Obie,
I agree with you about the Pashana. For gentlemen that enjoy the barbershop scents, Pashana is an excellent addition to their rotation

Thanked: 485Hi there,
Sorry to post to such an old thread, but I'm gathering this is better than making a new one :-)
I received my Pashana in the mail today. I bought the hair tonic rather than the aftershave for some reason. First question is, does anyone know if one can use the hair tonic as an aftershave; I'm guessing it's probably very similar stuff.
I was disappointed to find the container plastic not glass, and the back label is almost impossible for me to read, even with reading glasses on.
The scent (which is the main thing) is nice, very similar I think to Dominica Bay Rum, but I think Pashana has more metho in it. Just joking, clearly it's not metho (methylated spirits) but it does have a pretty strong alcohol smell. I like the fact it actually has INGREDIENTS. Some after shaves seem to be little more than water, alcohol, scent and colouring. This seems to have some nice ingredients you can feel on your skin. This is no Madame Scodioli Aftershave (Scodioli aftershave is the nicest feeling aftershave I've ever tried), but it does feel nice.
This is only my second bay Rum (after the Dominica) and I'm still looking for more.
I'm considering D R Harris, Meehan (MEEHAN BAY RHUM) and St Lucia. I MAY even get more Dominica. Any other suggestions gratefully accepted.Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 270The Pashana aftershave comes in a glass bottle. It doesn't remind me of Bay Rum. It is more of a barbershop-type smell to me, on the order of Floid Amber, only more potent.
DR Harris Bay Rum is more alcohol-based, and Ogallala Bay Rum is more witchhazel-based. I have never tried Meehan or St. Lucia. Dominica is definitely alcohol-based. The bay rum scents I have tried do not last as long as Pashana.

Pashana is the most potent aftershave I've ever found - more staying power than most colognes and EdTs. It's a definite throwback to British barbershops of times past. This is a deep, dark, dense somewhat dirty scent anchored by notes of patchouli and sandalwood and cedarwood with subtle herbal overtones (e.g. rosemary). It is a scent that can be stifling if overdone. It is, however, a rich, classy scent that those who appreciate the great barbershop scents of yesteryear (like me) enjoy. (excerpted from my Basenotes review)

Thanked: 485So, people, tell me. I got the Pashana Bay Rum Hair and Scalp Tonic by mistake. Can anyone tell me how different this is to the Pashana aftershave?

I'll add my support for Pashana as well but I agree that it is strong. I cut my usage per shave by half so I don't overwhelm others such as swmbo. Btw, She says it has a "hippie" smell because it reminds her of incense. So all you refugees from the sixties would like it. Then again, if you can remember the sixties, you weren't there.
