And just what's wrong with whiskey and chewing tobacco?? (In my case it would be pipe tobacco.)

A lot of us here are into those old scents. I'm one of many who loves the Pinaud Clubman line. That's my mainstay, with occasional help from an old bottle of a Russian Leather aftershave no longer made.

I really like Spanish Leather. Just a great scent, and it ages well on the skin too.

    Gentlemen:

Make mine Spanish Leather by both Truefitt & Hill and Geo F Trumper. Woods of Windsor has been with me for years — and stays. The original Pashana aftershave. The original Pinaud Clubman aftershave. And English Leather.

    Hello, rastewart:

I had forgotten about those English Leather TV commercials. You're right. Great memory. Yes, that was one of their classic lines. Thanks.

I remember my dad smellling like Camel cigarettes, Lifebouy soap, Fitch shampoo, (Now theres an old one) and Aqua Velva.

That Fitch shampoo and hair tonic was great stuff. Brylcream blowed it off the road.

This returns me to the wonderful days of yesteryear!!!!

    Gentlemen:

I remember this line, too. Now my memory is starting to play with me, especially since I did not have my oatmeal this morning. I wonder which is the line English Leather used.

But then we're starting to get away from the original post's topic. Perhaps we can start another thread and get to the bottom of it. This is important stuff.

+1 in my Dad's world there were only two fragrances on the market: English Leather (for Fall and Winter) and British Sterling (for Spring and Summer) These two have found permanent places in my rotation as they remind me of him. Other good bets:

Anything Pinaud Clubman (Yes even Lilac Vegetal)
    Aqua Velva
Murray and Lanman's Florida Water (this stuff absolutely rocks, cheap too)
The older I get, the better I was
