i don't have problems with rashes or irritation.. but i try to be as natural as possible.. for years i used burt's bees herbal deodorant spray.. it's basically alcohol, lemon oil, sage oil, and lavender oil.. it works great and keeps things simple.

    here's a link..
    Herbal Deodorant - Burt's Bees

also... although this product works great.. i finally decided to stop using deodorant all together.. i now shave my arm pits and just to natural.. the lack of hair cuts down on sweat and odor. on occasion i've splashed a little bayrum under there when needing to freshen up.. which is only when i've been very active and need to go someplace where i might be noticed.

I have been wanting a deodorant with a scent that avoids the teenybopper standard. I have tried tom's of maine and it rashed me up with the first use. I know having read mickylees thread that many of the companies we deal with offer an adult scented alternative. My question is which of these products will work and will not irritate my skin? Also are there any boutique guys who offer a deodorant.

Have you tried Tom's of Maine deodorant? I got it at drugstore.com.

Well I tried the witch hazel today and after trimming three trees since early this morning I smell like nothing more than willow and walnut. Thanks for all of the advice I'm going to try the nivea tomorrow I don't have alum like I should, but I'll have to get some eventually so I'll try then.
BTW with the witch hazel I could use my Alraz SoCa cologne!

Have you tried Mennen Speed Stick Original Deodorant? It's very traditional in scent and it smells an awful lot like the old Yardley Shaving soap of yore - very fougere and very masculine. I've used it off and on over the years and recently settled back in with it. Glad I did.

    Regards,

    deighaingeal,

I bought what is called a "Thai Deodorant stone" and have been using it for a couple of months. It works ridiculously good! I have no odor in my armpits for 24 hours, even after grappling for 2 hours. I have been using a deodorant called: Nature's Gate Summer Spice Deodorant Stick. It smells very good! Has some ingredients like witch hazel, sage myrrh, and some fragrance oils. I really like Nature's Gate products, I also use their toothpastes. I prefer them over Tom's of Maine. I think I will try Ogallala Bay Rum deodorant next. Thanks Dirtychrome for the link!

Have you tried deodorant powder ? I have a terribly bad funky armpit odour, like cockroach smell, so I need a deodorant. however not just any deodorants, because I don't want it to clog up my skin or give me bad smell afterwards. I've been using SPAM SPAM SPAM deodorant for many years now and I have no more armpit odours. Even when I sweat I don't have any odours, this deodorant works great and I'm loving it. I can't go out in the day without putting it on. Even when I sweat my armpits don't have any smell. I applied 1 pinch and it's all to it for the whole day without worries about any smell afterwards. There's no after sport smell or odour masking. I would recommend it to anyone who has underarm odour.

I can't use deodorant or antiperspirant, get all itchy and red. Tried it on/off since a young teen and just can't do it. The only thing that works for me is alum block (I use a razorock stick) and some talc like clubman. It keeps me dry and no sweaty smell... although I am one of the lucky ones that don't get pit odor, so I don't know if that would work for those who do.

The issue is arm smell is a human defense mechanism and is caused by bacterial growing in that area. Most deodorants out there aim to paint the skin with a substance that makes the area inhospitable to the bacteria so hence no smell. The problem with many of the herbal products is if you really sweat alot the product simply washes away from the sweat. Most commercial preps use the same aluminum compound along with another chemical to reduce sweating. If you want the ultimate in sweat and odor control contact an outfit called Kleinerts. They specialize in sweat control clothes. They sell an unscented pad you wipe on your underarm area and it really works. I sweat like a pig and it's the only product that actually works for me and I've tried them all at one time or another.
