I use an alum block and/or Nivea which is an anti-perspirant. That may be useless information for you but just in case you've never tried it I'd recommend giving it a go.
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

i don't have problems with rashes or irritation.. but i try to be as natural as possible.. for years i used burt's bees herbal deodorant spray.. it's basically alcohol, lemon oil, sage oil, and lavender oil.. it works great and keeps things simple.

    here's a link..
    Herbal Deodorant - Burt's Bees

also... although this product works great.. i finally decided to stop using deodorant all together.. i now shave my arm pits and just to natural.. the lack of hair cuts down on sweat and odor. on occasion i've splashed a little bayrum under there when needing to freshen up.. which is only when i've been very active and need to go someplace where i might be noticed.

Have you tried deodorant powder ? I have a terribly bad funky armpit odour, like cockroach smell, so I need a deodorant. however not just any deodorants, because I don't want it to clog up my skin or give me bad smell afterwards. I've been using SPAM SPAM SPAM deodorant for many years now and I have no more armpit odours. Even when I sweat I don't have any odours, this deodorant works great and I'm loving it. I can't go out in the day without putting it on. Even when I sweat my armpits don't have any smell. I applied 1 pinch and it's all to it for the whole day without worries about any smell afterwards. There's no after sport smell or odour masking. I would recommend it to anyone who has underarm odour.

I can't use deodorant or antiperspirant, get all itchy and red. Tried it on/off since a young teen and just can't do it. The only thing that works for me is alum block (I use a razorock stick) and some talc like clubman. It keeps me dry and no sweaty smell... although I am one of the lucky ones that don't get pit odor, so I don't know if that would work for those who do.

The issue is arm smell is a human defense mechanism and is caused by bacterial growing in that area. Most deodorants out there aim to paint the skin with a substance that makes the area inhospitable to the bacteria so hence no smell. The problem with many of the herbal products is if you really sweat alot the product simply washes away from the sweat. Most commercial preps use the same aluminum compound along with another chemical to reduce sweating. If you want the ultimate in sweat and odor control contact an outfit called Kleinerts. They specialize in sweat control clothes. They sell an unscented pad you wipe on your underarm area and it really works. I sweat like a pig and it's the only product that actually works for me and I've tried them all at one time or another.

For all those talking about Thai crystal and such - it is just good old alum, which we all may have laying around anyways. There would be no cost to try it if you already have it.

From wikipedia: "Alum's antibacterial properties contribute to its traditional use as an underarm deodorant. It has been used for this purpose in Europe; Mexico; Thailand, where it is called Sarn-Som; throughout Asia; and in the Philippines, where it is called Tawas. Today, potassium alum is sold commercially for this purpose as a "deodorant crystal," often in a protective plastic case."

Personally, I make my own stick deo and so can add any fragrance I prefer.

I have been using Grace Cosmetics roll-on deodourant for years now and have never had a problem, even when on exercise with the military.
It's all aloe vera based and natural. If you can find a distributor in your area, try it and see if it helps and, if it doesn't, there's a money back guarantee.

I have been using a crystal (alum salt) for the last 10 years. It does a great job; an added bonus, and the reason that I went to crystals, it eliminates the yellow gunk that accumulates on your t-shirt. Yes, if you use a deodorant stick, the underarm area of your t-shirt turns nasty.

One trick with the crystal stick that I use: when you rinse your face after shaving, just rub some water in your armpits where you want the deodorant to go. Then rub the crystal stick on your armpits. It glides much easier than trying to wet the crystal stick and then applying.
