Witch Hazel/After Shave/Favorites
I was wondering about the Thayers witch hazel. I have regular witch hazel at my house and the smell makes me sick. It is not scented just plain old witch hazel. I have heard that witch hazel is a good after shave but if Thayers smells anything like the stuff I have I could never use it.
For those of you that do use a witch hazel after shave how are they when they are scented is it a big difference from the witch hazel you can get at the pharmacy.
If anyone wants to add what their favorite aftershave is witch hazel or not I would love to know. I read on the forums all the time about different ones but just looking to see what others are using and if there is anything real different out there. What you use and why you like it.
For myself I just use old spice classic after shave. The old spice reminds me of when I was a kid and use to watch my dad shave and he would use old spice. My wife on the other hand not a big fan of old spice tells me I smell like an old man. I then use Zirh after shave soothing lotion, Love Zirh products. I was looking at the Clubman and bay rum type after shaves and was wondering how those are as well.

witch hazel is an acquired scent.. i have to say i don't really care for it.. but i imagine that the thayer's types which are scented must be better... i too love old spice and it's tied with pinaud's bay rum for my most used.. just keep trying stuff.. eventually you'll find something that both you and the misses will enjoy.

I am one of those people that like the smell of witch hazel and cannot get enough of it, I used to use it as my main aftershave, straight out of the bottle. it's got great healing powers that's why I added to my homemade Bay Rum. There is all types of essential oils out there that you could add to which Hazel to change the smell of it and make it to your liking.

I never got along with that burnt rubber smell from WH, but I found Thayer's (w/ Aoe Vera) to smell OK. It has a neutral enough smell that it is easily hidden by AS. And it's not a long lived smell at all.
When this bottle is done, I'll try some of Thayer's other scents.

I have the Unscented Thayers Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera and it is completely odorless. I mean, it smells just like water.

Scents of course-beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Personally I love plain witch hazel smell. The Thayers is very nice and smells nothing like plain witch hazel.
The Clubman line are very basic aftershaves loaded with alcohol. Some scents aren't bad at all and some well-stay away from Lilac vegetal. The bay rum really isn't bay rum more like clove spice but very nice.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

i've tried adding essential oil of clove to dickenson's and all i got was a white cloudy mess that still stank of witch hazel.. perhaps you have had success with other brands?
the dickenson's contains 14 percent alcohol.. which i would imagine would help.. however.. it didn't.

Witch Hazel
Gentlemen:
I use Thayers Super Medicated Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera after every shave and love it. What's more, it has no significant fragrance that I can detect. I follow it with balm and aftershave lotion at spaced out intervals.

Obie

Thanked: 1160Never used Witch Hazel, but I'm a big fan of so far all the Clubman scents except for the Lilac Vegetal.True they are alcohol laden, but they are very old skool scents and I'm a huge fan. love the Clubman Special Reserve and the Lime Sec is really good.Just my opinion though.

In my experience, I use the Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent (little alcohol in it), then a Balm, then Thayers Witch Hazel Aftershave (more alcohol) and because it's scent (which I love) goes away in minutes, I use either Clubman Original or Bay Rum.
I've found that this combination works great for me and gives me a smooth finish and no irritation at all, considering that I have relatively sensitive skin
Good Luck!!!!!
