Spanish Leather . . .
Hello, Brent:
I have both the aftershave and the cologne. The cologne is more concentrated and its scent stronger. The alcohol content seems to be the same.
The scent does linger, becoming more subtle as time goes on, of course. I remember one Saturday I applied it after the morning shave. That evening I attended a wedding.
An old friend, a lovely young lady, gave me a hug and a smooch on the cheek. "You smell nice," she said. "He always smells nice," said dearly beloved.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 74What does Spanish Leather or even Leather smell like? From what I have read, it has nothing to do with the smell of leather. Thanks for any help.

Thank you Obie. I have been working on being one of those people who "always smell nice" and have been quite successful. I always enjoy your little stories (your long ones too).
Your friend,
Brent

well, I can't speak to spanish leather but the two leather scented aftershaves I have tried have what I call a strong hint of actual leather smell. they don't smell exactly like leather but lemonade doesn't taste exactly like raw lemons either. as to what leather smells like it depends on the leather since they're all made differently. a black leather jacket smells different than a brown leather saddle and a new pair of leather shoes smell different than either of those. all of these smells are the smell of new leather so perhaps "leather scented" isn't as accurate as "new leather scented". most leather scented aftershaves I have come accross smell more like a soft brown leather but they all have other smells mixed in. I would say that a leather scented A/S should smell like walking into a tack shop with the scent of a local popuri filling the air and mixing with the scent of new leather.

I know this thread died out a long time ago, but it is a shining example of why browsing threads on any topic I'm interested in nets me GREAT information.
As a result, I've purchased and am now waiting for my GFT Spanish Leather to arrive.
And yes, I did send a thank-you to my friend Obie to let him know that his words carry weight long after he hits submit.

Mark, my dear friend, thank you for the kind words. And you are very welcome. Yes, you will love Trumper's Spanish Leather. It has a strong fragrance at first, but it quickly settles down. After all these years, I still can't see being without this sweet slice of life. Enjoy it, and stay well.

Thanked: 1195As a matter of coincidence, I just happened to splash on some Trumpers Spanish Leather today myself Yes, I guarantee you'll like it as well.
It's been a few years since I've read this thread and I noticed at the time I still hadn't bought the Truefitt & Hill version. Well today I'm here to tell you all that Obie was indeed responsible for me buying another version of Spanish Leather with his doorway into heaven comment - it just took a couple years ..... and yes it is heavenly lol

Too Funny!
Obie certainly painted quite a picture with words...so much so I couldn't resist.
The price difference between the two led me to GFT, and by your example I have some time before it would be 'bad form' not to buy the T&H.
I guarantee by 2016, I'll have to T&H on my shelf as well.
Thanks Ryan for the info and commenting on a this blast from the past.
We newbies LOVE to scour these threads! The pre shaves, aftershaves and colognes portion of the site is a really great read...after we start to hit our stride with the SR.
Kudos to you Ryan as the Moderator.Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
