It is one of the things in life that you just have to figure out yourself, by starting low and adding until you have enough.

Gentlemen:
The amount of aftershave applied is about as personal as any other aspect of traditional shaving: apply as little or as much as you want. Also, the amount for me depends on which aftershave. Those with lime notes will probably require a little more that, say, Spanish Leather. If I were to follow a general rule, it would be a one-half teaspoon serving.

My dear thebigspendur:
I thought I would be visual and describe the general amount of aftershave I use in cooking measurements, since I was making porridge for breakfast. I like the term porridge; it has something Charles Dickensian about it. (By the way, my recipe consists of: organic steel cut oats, ground flax seed, freshly ground peanut butter, blueberries, cinnamon, ginger and Sun Crystals sweetner.)
As for your hooch concocted with Bay Rum aftershave, it sounds good enough to drink. We wear it, so why not drink it, what?
Regards,
Obie
I know. Sometimes this stuff is so good you just want to drink it.

Gentlemen,
I'm all for experimenting, but before this one is put to execution, bear in mind that quote from Wikipedia:
Pimenta racemosa
"It is not related, botanically, to the Bay Leaf used in cooking. It is used to produce a fragrant cologne called Bay rum; although Bay Rum is essentially rum, the plant itself is toxic and renders the product undrinkable."
Drink responsibly.
