Thank you for all the detail. When you say clean and soapy what exactly do you mean? I would love to try the T&H but it is sadly out of my price range. Trumpers is at the very top of it, but I keep telling myself the bottle will last forever and a day. Does woods of Windsor come in a splash all I could find was balm and Eau de Toilette (Cologne correct)?
No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

Devilpup:
Clean and soapy fragrance means just that. By soapy fragrance I mean quality soap, a fragrance you would find in a fine British gentleman's shop. The Trumper's Spanish Leather goes on sweet, but the fragrance settles moments later to a delightful fragrance. Don't forget Wood of Windsor, too, because that's sheer delight, especially in the summer months. You'll do well with any of these products.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 1195Actually, a little goes a long way. I bought my bottle of Trumpers SL last summer and it hardly looks used even though it's been in rotation all year.
Here's a secret to trying out expensive aftershaves and colognes and not paying exorbitant prices - get the travel size, they're usually half the price. If you're like me and have 15 aftershaves in rotation why go for the 200ml bottle? The drawback is that travel size bottles are usually plastic, and some guys are picky about plastic vs glass. If it matters to you it's easy to decant into a glass bottle and problem solved.

Thanks guys.
Obie- thank you. I'm just now getting out of the budget items for everything. My first thought was that weird smell cheap liquid hand soap has.
Ryan82- I hadn't thought of that I'm definitely going to look into it. I wish I had more but right now I have one, that will sadly be within a few weeks. I cant replace it because it a mid 1980's formula and the current smells so much different. No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

I loved English Leather. My brother was the one who introduced it to me because he wore it and it smelled great. I saw a bottle at WalMart, but I was quite surprised to read on the box that it is made in China. Yesterday at the drugstore, the wife and I were browsing the men's shaving section and I saw Brut. I opened it and I loved the fragrance, my wife was not too thrilled but to me it smelled great. She works for KMart and promised to get me a bottle of it, she will, but reluctantly. My brother loves Aqua Velva. I say if an aftershave or cologne smells and feels good, WEAR IT!!!

Thanked: 220I really enjoy the Geo F. Trumper Spanish Leather, as I got a free sample once, and it impressed me with it's masculine, extremely long lasting scent. I also frequently put dabs of it behind my ears, and it would last most of the day.

Thanked: 1195The group censensus usually shows that English Leather aftershave is on the cheap end of the spectrum. I thought that too, until I saw a bottle at Shoppers Drug Mart the other day for $25 (!).... Not exactly T&H prices, but not the cheapest either. Not sure when the price went up, but it wasn't that much the last time I picked up a bottle. I ran out of EL a while ago, so I guess it may be time to stock up again.

I use English Leather (MEM) during the colder months. It seems like the wrong scent during the summer, but is just fine during late fall/winter/early spring.
