Thanked: 0Haha, I hadn't clicked the link because I had looked at some other recipes on that site and skipped them. I smelled it this morning and it smells good. I'll strain it tonight so I can give it a try tomorrow morning and report back.
Just a note, I used witch hazel in place of vodka because I had it on hand. Not sure what difference that would make in the end product.

I feel if i try it, that i would have to use the Vodka and rum together. But, as my friends said, "Are you just wanting to smell like alcohol?" haha

I like the Pinaud Bay Rum, but after a while, it smells like crawfish boil.

Another cheapie is Lucky Tiger's Bay Rum. It's in their classic line up.
Pretty good stuff and easy on the wallet.

Thanked: 0The stuff I made myself turned out very well, I think. It has a nice mellow scent that isn't too powerful. You can make out the orange and spices a bit but no one thing stands out.
It didn't burn at all which was surprising since I had managed to cut myself pretty well for the first time. The smell didn't linger much that I could tell. I definitely like it and would make it again.

I have used the Dominica from Classic Shaving. It is really good. Great sent and a lot of natural oils.

I like the Pinaud Bay Rum too, the scent seems on the heavy side when you sniff the opened bottle but less so, and nice and spicy, when you put it on. Personally I haven't noticed the crawfish aftertones.

Just mixed up my first batch using the second recipe.
I used 50% witchhazel and 50% vodka as the base liquid.
It smells pretty sweet and sickly at the moment. But slightly better after it had been left overnight. I hope it will improve.
How is this stuff supposed to smell? Does it have a sweet scent?
I'll let you know how it progresses.
