    Default What goes with MWF?

If I were to look for a fragrance to combine with MWF, what would I seek? An aftershave and a cologne, perhaps.

I am enthused about using the full line of Tabac with my lovely Tabac soap, as well as the DR Harris Arlington and perhaps the T&H Trafalgar lineup, but MWF is a standalone product and I wonder what would work to complement the wonderful wool fat.

I also enjoy T&H Spanish Leather, if that helps.

Any suggestions for an ASB/AS/Cologne to combine with Mitchell's?

I use Ogallala sandelwood. My wife loves it.

    Hello, jdto:
You have a fine lineup of products. The final rinse generally washes away any leftover scent from soaps and creams with soft fragrances. Mitchell's Wool Fat fragrance falls in that category. Your aftershave fragrance, therefore, will not be diluted. As for Truefitt & Hill's Spanish Leather aftershave, my dear friend, that was made for the gods — and for pilgrims such as yours truly. I plan to visit my Truefitt & Hill Spanish Leather aftershave once or twice a week into the next century.
    Stay well.

I agree wth Obie. Once you rinse, and perhaps use Alum, or witch hazel, Just about any trace of soap you used is gone.

I really like MWF soap because it has such a mild scent. I too think you can use what ever you want to for an after shave product. That Spanish Leather sounds great.....seem to remember that my father used that when I was a wee bairn.

Visit some shops and splash on a sample...

For me DR Harris, Tabac and MWF are exactly correct
and perfectly finished. I have some allergic reactions to
many fragrances and the light well balanced classic soaps
    are all I need.

Of interest this is a personal, seasonal, event specific
topic. One should never wear cologne or perfume
to a wine tasting or a scotch/ whiskey tasting. But to
a football game (either type) to be followed by beer,
pub food and a cigar and friends... well that is another whole
    pile of fries.

Thanks for the suggestions. I can say that I definitely enjoy the T&H, as I am working my way through a cologne sampler from them right now. I'll have to give the Trumper's a whirl at some point.

Easier said than done, my friend. I have been lucky to have Truefitt & Hill have not just one, but two locations within a 10-minute walk of my office. I will check the barber shop at the Royal York hotel, which is near my office, as I do see quite a few traditional shaving products in their display cases.

All three have been wonderful, so far. I think MWF has the edge, but Arlington and Tabac both make a strong case for themselves. I love the ability to rotate.

You are, of course, very correct in this assessment. Personal preference, time of year, type of event and many other factors come into play for selecting a scent. That said, I think I could almost get away with the T&H Spanish Leather as a regular go-to fragrance. It's still early days for me, though, so I'm not going to make the call just yet.

I recently have been combining in my mug a sample wedge each of SRD soap sandalwood & vanilla bourbon as well as a chunk roughly the same size of MWF this makes a great lather and the combined sent really stays around but is not over powering SWMBO loves it and my brother even commented on my new "aftershave" when I explained what it was his reply was "soap , really I gotta try some of that"

I'd like to try some SRD soaps, but the shipping is prohibitive for me to just buy a soap from them. I'll likely include the soap when I make a larger order at some time in the future.

As for scents, the full lineup of Tabac was a bit strong for me. The soap is nice on its own, but the aftershave and balm are not for me. I am going to have to move them to someone who will enjoy them.
