    Gentlemen,
Caswell-Massey's No. 6 is a soft but complex aftershave with citrus notes. I have used it for years, especially in the summer. The company says it was designed for President George Washington — and if it's good enough for the great man, it's good enough for me.
I understand Frank Sinatra was devoted to Agua Lavanda Puig cologne.

Thanks Obie, I was looking for a more Citrus scent to add to my arsenal.

Are you familiar with any of the other Caswell Massey products?

It seems nobody is responding in that category here yet.

Odd, I didn't see my name on that list of people.

You are very welcome. The only aftershave from Caswell-Massey I like is the No. 6. I tried some of the other ones early on and liked none.

If you are looking for a lovely and complex citrus scent, try the Taylor of Old Bond Street No. 74 Victoria Lime. It's quite good.

Well I don't see which ones you like.

Unless you are telling us that it's all of them!

If that's true I'll happily add your name to every category above.

Interesting thread, great information on classic scents, thanks!

Have to say though, what really shocked me is finding out that Keith Richards uses cologne - - talk about an image adjustment!!!

I was a little surprised not to see Aramis in the line-up. While it's no longer one of my personal favorites, it was definitely one of the big colognes of the '60s - I'm still kinda partial to the overall style of that era (Mad Men anyone?).

PS: Interesting also that none of the newer breeds of cologne (post 70's) are in the line-up - three that come to mind off-hand are Lagerfeld, Zino (Davidoff) and Fahrenheit.

When talking about Keith Richards; If you smoke that much (several substances), add drinking and drugs, then showers are pretty much optional. Resulting in cologne being more of a necessity than an option.

I pared the list down from a larger one I found in the internet. I removed several brands with very few mentions. Aramis was mentioned as a favorite of Ronald Reagan. Also it was an older list, which would explain why the newer favorites may not have been on the list.

Here are a few of the Honorable Mentions:

    OLD SPICE (Original)
    JF Kennedy (and Me!!!)

    BRUT (Original)
    Muhammad Ali

    4711 (Original)
    Napoleon: 4711
Richard Wagner: 4711 Kollinsch Wasser Muelhens (revealed in his letters)

    KNIZE 10
David Niven: Aqua di Parma colonia original, Knize Ten
Errol Flyn: Caswell Massey, Knize ten
    James Dean: Knize Ten
Arnold Shoenberg ( dodecaphony introducer): Knize Ten
