If it doesn't work out, you can always put it on a salad..

I have done this before and the result was exceptionally soothing. Witch hazel is great, its good that you added it. The only problem was when I threw it together I made a lot I guess it was about 28 oz when it was all strained and filtered. It seems even after generous applications I would be using it for a long time. So I decided to make an astringent by mixing some of it with rubbing alcohol and more witch hazel. I find it very soothing before hitting the sack. BTW you should try to find some bay rum essential oil (Pimento racemosa) it well worth it if you want to continue this DIY kick. Its an almost smoky, cinnamon, clove fresh smell (that is as close as I can describe it).

    Good Luck

Mine smells great so far, I'm glad I added the additional lime zest. The smell isn't very long lasting. Works good though, I've splashed some on out of one of the jars after shaving to give it a try. Stil 2 to 4 weeks left to cure, I've decided to stick it in the sun on the windowsill.

When did it start to take on that color? Looks better then the first couple days.

Its been nearly the same color since I first mixed it up. I think the color comes from the fact that I used Black Strap rum.

Please do not do this - sunlight may break down some of the compounds you want for your scent. Put it in a cool, dark place. If you have under-the-sink storage in your bathroom, that is the perfect place. This was strongly recommended to me when I started down this path.

Awesome, good to know. Thanks. I'll move it back into the pantry when I get home.
