That's the thing the booze smell evaps very quickly leaving behind the mixture of EO'S you used. Have a try take a small bit of straight rhum use as a splash or just rub on your are wait a few and then decide if you smell like you belong on the Bowery. When I get to a pc I will try to find that necro thread it is very informative and address just about every question one could have on the subject of bay rum, in fact I know that term is in the title and a lot of old timers chimed in if I recall guys like ozmaru (smile)

Well, it was ALMOST 4 weeks and I hadn't noticed a change in scent after the first week so I decided to filter it and use it.
I dumped it in the French Press and from there through white coffee filters. I had to change the filter 4 or 5 times, because the flow kept stopping.
Then I put it in the bottle from the rum I used, then dropped in a new whole cinnamon stick. More for looks than anything else. Fished around for a fancy "margaritaville" bottle topper I have had for years with never a reason to use it before.
Not exactly happy with the potency and staying power of it I decided to go all in with the patchoulli oil. Dumped the rest of the bottle in and shook it up.
I'm very happy with the results. Smells amazing and works well.

Just shy of 6 weeks working its magic under the kitchen sick (shaken once daily).
Smells very nice, Bay Rum with a hint of orange. May drop a cinnamon stick in there for looks and added scent.
Bottle on the left is a medicine style bottle I picked up. The one on the right I found tonight at the craft store with SWMBO.
