Thanked: 3Aqua Velva New Bottle Pouring Issues?
I picked up a bottle of Aqua Velva a few days ago and from what I understand they've switched from a glass bottle to a plastic bottle (7 oz). I'm having a lot of trouble applying it though. What I usually do with my Clubman Pinaud is drip some in my palm, rub my hands, and apply to my face. However, the Aqua Velva "nozzle" is way too wide and when I try putting some in my hands half of it spills on my counter. Anyone have any alternate application methods or easy fixes for this problem?
I really like Aqua Velva though, it has a nice scent and I love the menthol. Problem is, I'll probably spill half of bottle the way I'm using it.

Thanked: 1072I recently got my first bottle so I dont know what the old glass ones are like, but I know what you mean about it pouring out to quickly.
I place my thumb half over the opening as I'm pouring to slow it down.

Thanked: 3I mean I haven't tried the old bottle but I've heard they're better on Amazon and such. Thanks for the idea. I'll have to try that out tomorrow. It is a terrible design though. If the hole was just a little smaller....

The glass bottles have the same issue. For the most part cover hole with thumb flip over other hand and lift thumb slowly . I think I did read some where that guys where using witch hazel caps on the aqua velva bottle to make the hole smaller.

Thanked: 3I've tried just slightly tilting it but that's the worst because it just drips down the side of the bottle onto the counter, and then turning it all the way is a bad idea because the cap is so big that way too much flows out..then in between you just get both problems haha

Thanked: 1587This is, I think, probably the same advice as Grant gave you, but I'd try drizzling it like the TV chefs do with olive oil - put your thumb completely over the hole and then allow some to dribble out by adjusting your thumb pressure. Either that, or buy one of those adjustable spouts you can get for olive oil, such as this:
James.

I haven't tried the plastic bottle yet, the one I have is still glass. Covering the hole with your thumb seems like the easiest fix, I do that with some bottles I have with large openings. Note that know this though my next aqua Velva purchase will be transfered to the glass bottle. Does anyone know if the formulation has changed or just the bottle? (sorry if this counts as hijacking)

Thanked: 3Yes, thank you, covering the hole with the thumb works excellently. A hassle, but it certainly solves the problem.
And but haha no it's hardly hijacking, still on topic of the current state of Aqua Velva...I don't believe the formula has changed. They just changed bottles because it's cheaper to put it in plastic...they claim it's because it's "shatterproof" but that's a load of if you ask me, if you drop bottles you shouldn't be holding straight or DE razors to your face (well I guess cartridge razor users can use Aqua Velva but that's beside the point).

There's just something about the glass bottle that makes it...well...better. Once old spice went to plastic it just hasn't been the same
