Though not a balm, Clubman Original would be my choice for an aftershave to pick up.Smells like old school barbershop's. A shave den without Clubman isn't a shave den.
    alb1981 and Tarkus like this.

If you like English Leather then you may like..... Spanish Leather Both T&H and Trumpers make a version of it.

    I would also suggest Tabac.

In my opinion, you certainly can't go wrong with T&H 1805. Such a wonderful scent, very warm and woody. One of my very favorites.

I would personally go for 1805 or the Castle Forbes. The former has a great scent, though maybe not really Old Spice-like. For me this is a fantastic fruity scent and would definitely choose it. The Castle Forbes is a great performer and it smells like a bag of nuts to me. Don't worry about the scent though as I found it didn't linger very much (well, except the Limes maybe - that was surprisingly strong!).

I would say +1 for Tabac Original after shave. It's a great scent and has the vibe that you are after.

    I hope this helps!

Floïd Aftershave, both the "classic orange" and "blue". To me, the best aftershave around. Very effective with irritations and also leaving your skin fresh and smooth.
Both the Italian and Spanish versions are good, indeed, excellent. The Spanish version also comes as a "vigoroso" style, containing more alcohol.

I agree with the tabac and floid, I've only tried the blue floid so i can't comment on the orange.

The Blue and orange are basically the same. They smell a lot different, though. However they are the same product.

Replying to myself here. I just wanted to briefly add something about the Castle Forbes after shave. It smells a LOT like Dyptique's Tam Dao fragrance. Very similar - a mix of hazelnut and spiced woods.

I use T&H Trafalgar but haven't tried the 1805. Pretty much anything from them or Castle Forbes is going to be good. It's about what you like, since you're the one who's going to wear it!

Have you thought about Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar? It's a great, long lasting, quite strong scent that's really citrussy and fresh, yet at the same time 'gentlemanly' enough for the office. Probably more of a spring and summer scent than a winter scent.

I find (found, I haven't used it for 30 years) Old Spice to be a sweet smell. Dominica Bay Rum is very sweet; but maybe not an 'occasion' scent unless mixed with an Eau de Toilette. 'Whisky' by Evaflor goes really well with Bay Rum, and extends and complicates its scent further in to the afternoon...

However, if you want a balm aftershave for the cooler months, you can't go past Madame Scodioli 'Step Right Up' aftershave. This stuff is so 'balmy' it's like something you'd anoint someone feet with or something. The scent is intoxicating; it's essentially a drug, I'm sure it would be banned in some countries...

Oh, I see someone already said T&H Trafalgar, so plus one for them.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
