Special Reserve = Leather

It was my only AS from about 1967 to 1979. Some of those years are the Lost Years, and because of that, I refuse to go near a bottle again.
I really like Special reserve and I am just finishing my first bottle now. Leather is something I have never associated with it - I think more Oakmoss. Now this leads to a question. The AS in my bottle is a dark forrest green. However, when I look at the product on-line the AS is Brown:

Was there a re-formulation? Did I get a screwy bottle? Anyone have any idea?
thanks
SR smells more like the chemicals used to treat leather than leather itself in my opinion. I wish someone would bottle something that smelled like the leather in a new car seat.
Hmm...I was just looking at ordering up a bottle of the Pinaud Special Reserve...I religiously use the Bay Rum and Original Clubman. Anyone have a positive experience with the Special Reserve?
I like Special Reserve. As I'm about out of my bottle, I'll be ordering more. It does contain Oak Moss which, from what I've read, is an ingredient used to mimic a leather note or fragrance. Having tried Creed Royal English Leather, I detect a similarity with Special Reserve. Not identical, just a similarity. But I think SR is good none-the-less, and at a fraction the price of other "leather" aftershave/ colognes.
Back to the Lilac Vegetal...... :)
I was lucky enough to be able to sample this before buying, and it was an automatic no for me. I'm easy going when it comes to scents, but this one was enough to make me want to heave. Even if I did like it my wife took a whiff and she knew right away that she's allergic to it, so it was a resounding "NO" from both of us.
It's definitely a love-it-or-leave-it scent.
