I have been keeping up with this thread with much amusement. I love these comments.
My horror story with the Lilac was at all places Bed Bath & Beyond. They put a health & beauty department in it and I was checking out the aftershaves there, and low & behold there was an open bottle of Lilic for testing. Being a Clubman fanatic I got real excited. I opened the bottle drew it to my nose and manadged to smack the bottle top with the bottom of my nose leaving me with that god forsaken stench in my nasel passages for a good long time.
    Truly wicked stuff!!!

I fell into the Pinaud trap as well recently.

Love the Clubman so much I started picking up the other Pinaud fragrances, as follows

    Bay Rum: Excellent.
Vanilla: Surprisingly good; Mrs. Dan's fav.
Special Reserve: I wonder exactly who this is reserved for...not a fan.
    and finally
    Lilac Vegetal: ?!?

Words cannot convey my surprise at the brutality of the onslaught to my poor olfactory sensors. I wonder who actually wears this...then I know the answer: zombies.

Surely nothing living can survive the overpowering crush of "90 year old lady meets formaldehyde" that is Lilac Vegetal.

It is both entirely too feminine for me to wear and entirely too gack-inducing to even contemplate.

I am serious - if you want a bottle of this, you can have mine. I am too scared of the environmental repercussions to pour it down the drain.

    It's floral/musky to my nose.

C'mon! It's been reported that even the "Duke" John Wayne wore the Vegetal. I know my grandfather did, and he was a tough guy. Maybe it takes a tough guy to wear it.

    Give the LV some love!

I am pretty sure somewhere between the Duke's/your dear ol' grandad's time and today, Pinaud removed any love that might have been in the LV...

Nah, I've been using Lilac Vegetal since the 1970's when it still came in glass bottles. For a while I thought there was a difference, maybe a reformulation of the current stuff, but have decided it's basically the same.
