I just sent my payment off to Bruno last night. I can't wait to get my first custom-made razor in the mail. Oh happy day! I have lots of experience sanding and polishing metal, so this will be right up my alley. I also bought 2 different styles of polishing wheels for my bench grinder, which I have attached a speed controller I made from a ceiling light dimmer switch. I now have to choose a scale and pin material. I think I may use shell of some sort and nickel silver bolsters. How thick do I need the shell to be, to be usable as scale material? It's often listed in decimal points. I know that .125 is 1/8. What say you all?

Thanked: 228Good for you. Have patience. Have patience though as it sometimes takes some time to get here from Europe.

Thanked: 228I had to go on an unexpected trip last week and won't get back home until maybe this coming Friday. I did have the post hold my mail until I get back so all should be well. I will pm you when I pick it up at the post office and that I have received it. Can't wait for my first shave with it.

I like the color of that Wootz steel. It is similar in color to magnesium. Mopar used magnesium for their intakes on their super-stock Hemi engines.

Oh, you mean me? I take it you are talking to me. I will be patient. I know it needs to get through customs. I was just a little too anxious, in a good way, to get my first custom razor. I'm glad we have someone like Bruno, who can make us these near-finished custom-made razors for such a nice price. I will buy another one from him this year, if my wife doesn't kill me. She wasn't very happy about the money I spent on THIS one. She'll have to get over it. She can go buy a handbag or something. No, really, she is usually very easy going and doesn't show her temper hardly ever. I have things come from Japan and that usually takes 2 weeks, like when I send off a letter to Japan, it takes about that long.

The blade arrived yesterday. I will post pics soon after I get some handle material for it. I am not sure I should attempt to put the scales on it and fashion my own wedge. Who does a great job of this at a decent price? I think I'm going to use shell, with possibly a clear backer to give it strength. The blade is quite heavy and the spine is 5/16" thick and 3.5" long!

Nothing wrong with posting pics before it's all pinned up!

Perhaps not a Bruno straight razor, but certainly a Bruno blade here. He did all the hard work - I scaled and pinned it with some really nice G10 and brass round. This will be going to my little brother as he goes off to college. Everyone needs a good kitchen knife.

Lovely colors. I always like to combine stainless with bright colors too.
