Can a Newbie Come In?
I just started straight shaving and still have a ways to go. My mother-in-law came to visit and brought me some razors that were owned by her great-grandfather and her great uncle.
The one from her uncle is a Wade & Butcher: The Celebrated which (as far as I know razors) seems to be in restorable condition (It could still shave the hair off my arm without any sharpening). I guess its a 5/8 though I am not sure how to arrive at that measurement, I just held it up to a ruler and thats about what it came to.
I want to have it honed to shave with and maybe the handle restored as well. Can anyone tell me a little history here? Her uncle immigrated from Scotland in the early 1900s. I would like to know when these razors were made and anything else anyone can tell me about them.

Thanked: 0My official entry into the Butcher shop club.
I still need to restore the tang, but I don't want to break the old horn handles.

Hi all!
Finally I got in to this famous group !!!
Just snatched this out of the bay! Just what I was looking for: 7/8, almost wedge, perfect black horn scales! Looking forward for the first shave!

One of Brad's (Undream) razors, if I'm not mistaken. He does great work, and I'm sure you'll be very happy with the razor.

You are right, it is (was) one of his razors!
I am sure I will love it

Thanked: 0My application for membership
This was my 3rd straight razor, and seems to be a little unusual for this club. It's only the fourth round point in 36 pages.
5/8 1/4 hollow round point with a smile.

Wow only 4 round points so far?
I should add this one at least
