If it wasn't the cork screw, then it was the barrel knife that created the background for razor making.

Does anybody know the length of the mk33 blade. I got one and I suspect it has been shortened.

Same length as every other Heljestrand.

I measured 2-33's and 1-32 and all 3 were this length.

Default French made, with Swedish steel "Guaranteed"

Hope this qualifies. Just got this razor along with a rusty Grelot for peanuts. This one was an easy clean up so got done first. It's a 6/8 L'Espagnolette Trophee. Inscription on blade and box says (in French): "Swedish Steel Guaranteed" as well as "Tempered and Sharpened by Hand". Couple of mentions in the forum of this brand, but little detail. Similarly sparse on the wider Web. It sucked itself against the hone like crazy, has a really heavy draw on the strop and gives a phenomenal shave. From the box design I'd date it to the 1940s/1950s. A little bit in love with this razor. Any info or background much appreciated....

I believe your razor was made in Germany for the French market. Does it say "Allemagne" anywhere on the blade or box? If it was German made you might find who the brand name belonged to if you look here Razor makers

Thanks, interestingly there are no other marks on the tang and no country of origin designation. I read somewhere that L’Espagnolette may be the retailer, but that is unverified...
