Planning a trip to St. John's Newfoundland for creative photography, whale, iceberg watching. Renting an 1898 cottage with waterviews. Planning on going alone but would consider an exceptional female intellectual as a travel companion. Carry on luggage only, no excessive makeup and hair products. Want to live like a local whilst there. I will ship a Heljestrand and strop ahead of my arrival and show this Swedish steel some new environs.
Newfoundland and Labrador is beautiful, when you land on The Rock, lord thunderin' Jesus it's a whole different way of doing things, pace is different, people are kind, much slower pace and place. The Cod in the Bay aren't as plentiful, but it's truly one of the most unique places to visit in my opinion.

I viewed an episode of the "Million Dollar Critic" where he visited St.J/NL and there are a couple three of the haunts that he visited that I want to indulge my taste buds. I am shooting for a combination Hemingway/Bourdain/Hitchens experience. If I happen to meet a female nerdy geeky Jeopardy contestant/Champion to join me, that would be fine too. Photography and journal of my experiences too of course. I will be in contact about the forwarding service via Phrank's Canada Post.

I thought Id post my CVH Mk collection. The Mk 30 pictured had a bevel too close to the stabilizer and wasn't worth the effort, so its been swapped for another Mk 30 blade that had etching on it and plastic scales. Theres also a Mk 30 that got shortened to get rid of the tip damage. Need ivory shoes for her at some point.

The KT in ivory had too much pitting to be worth the effort according to my guy...so I sent off another KT in ebonite (hate that stuff) for a possible blade swap...if not I included some extra ivory scales that should fit without having to re-porfile them.

Also included a non-Mk CVH I polished up..she turned out great! For some reason the pic order changed from the way they were uploaded...not going to mess with it. Enjoy!

Almost forgot my AE Berg and another Mk 30 that I bought restored. This Mk 30 was the first CVH I bought, she was restored with ivory, but the profile is wrong. Name: image.jpg

    Hello gentlemen !

Here is mine, a MK32, tortoise scales and original box. Probably an early one. You'll notice (although I did'nt until Ferdi told me that) the reversed three crowns. The tang is also unusually large and the shoulder goes high and "eat" the spine.

You're right, the crowns are reversed, I thought I had the exact same razor - Mk 32 in tortoise, but they are obviously different runs, years? Mine has the two crowns on the bottom as what I thought was the norm - fascinating and had never seen that before - thanks for pointing it out. Wonder why the difference?

Well, I talked about that razor on a different forum (CCC) and Ferdi (who appears here sometimes too) point out these points:
    - the crowns are reversed (like they appear on the swedish national emblem), maybe someone decided later that combination should be reserved to official things, thus the reversed ones (one up, two down) ?
    - the K on mine is kinda different from the usual one
    - the scales aren't as pointy as they are usually seen
    - finish is not so good compared to they later model

His conclusion is that my (and his) razor is an early model.

Mine is different from both, besides the 1 top, two bottom crowns arrangement.
