Joseph Aubril - 139 Palais Royal
Joseph Aubril, cutler of Mme. The Dauphine during the Restoration (1814 -1830), hairdresser, inventor and retailer of cutlery during the Monarchy of July (1830 -1848).
It seems to have been active of the years between 1815 and 1850 in the Palais Royal, before more modestly in the galerie de bois to the n°25 and then from 1820-22 with a shop in the galerie de Valois to the n°139.
Had a patent in 1822 for a cosmetic water, intended to preserve the teeth & gums.
He also had a patent in 1840 for an abrasive powder for sharpening razors, lancets and other cutting tools.

Do you know if Opinel's straight razors were made by different manufacturers ?

I know that Pradat Brun used to make razors for Opinel, but yours look different than mine.

The mark brand " Opinel " was collectively deposited by Pierre Opinel, his brother Daniel and the son of this last one, Joseph Opinel in 1904.
Afterward each left from his part; Joseph Opinel continued the business of his father and registered trademark of the "main couronnée" in 1908, Pierre registered trademark " croix & palme " in 1914 and the third branch stemming from Jean, brother of Joseph, registered trademark " La Croix de Savoie " in 1927 before being acquired by joseph's branch which only continues today. The "Coutellerie savoisienne" based by Pierre Opinel in the brand "Croix & Palme" stopped its activity in 1967. Pradat-Brun made razors for this company.
I think that your razor was also made by a subcontractor because "Opinel" (brand "main couronnée") is as you know, specialized in the Pocketknife but I don't know the name of this company.

Opinel had never forge any straight razors, they just buy them to another manufacture of Thiers, that brand their name on it...It was a very common practice as soon as the 19th century
Therefor, I can't understand their price ?
