Well, ever since finding out more info about my "spurious and inferior imitation" (i.e. fake) John Barber frameback I have kept an eye out for an original. If you look back a few posts (#160 on) you will see the very helpful info and discussion provided by fellow SRP members about the fake one. I'm happy to say I've finally found an example of a real John Barber frameback. I'm thrilled to have it in the collection, especially paired up with the fake!

I guess i forgot to post it, my Brothers Dittmar of Heilbronn FB with brass coverd Tang and plane scales (i guess).
It came with some devotional objects from the abatement of a WW1 Soldier but im pretty sure that the Razor is
older than WW1. A funny fact, it came rusty but after some strokes over the leather it made a pretty good HHT
and was shave ready, shaved a few times with it and the edge is awsome, dont know who honed it decades ago
but that guy did exactly know what he did.

    Nice find my friend!!

When I had the Japanese folding razor that Owen Agenbroad found on Iwo Jima during the second week of the battle in hand so that pictures could be taken/I couldn't help myself and after stropping the hell out of it on cloth and then leather is gave a decent shave!

It took a lot of self control to not touch it up on the hones. However I do have bragging rights to have shaved with a historical razor whose owner probably only had his own spit to wet the hone that was found with the razor and his leather duty belt to strop his razor with.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

I think you are right Martin. There's a picture of what it should look like here http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...ml#post1409013

What a unique collection of fakes I have started here. I need to do more research before I post stuff

Absolutely not, I. Barbers were razors made by Isaac Barber around the same time frame of John.

Looks like the one scienceguy posted is like your's, Tuzi.
Yours may have had the name on the spine?

Why is I. Barber mentioned in that old ad, Martin?
