This means that if it was not made of precious metal, it would not be assayed, and thus not stamped by the Assay Office.

No. The marks were definitive of all cutlery. The developer of this site has already clarified that point in a post in 2011, that's what I posted.

HAHAHAH 😄 I don't think it's the logic but the conversation which has become circular. Like, wher did I say hallmarks? Crown, Castle, Anchor are cutler marks indigenous to the place of registration. Hallmarks are familiar but there called city/ assay marks.
