Lovely! So is there a chart somewhere which will tell us how to ID makers on Kamisoris?
Ive only gone by matching up past posts and ebay. Ive also tried some kanji translators that were ok. It would be great to have a makers kanji chart...
Lovely razors - I like pulling out the Kamisoris now and then and always enjoy them...
My latest edition to the kamisori family: a Iwasaki Tamahagane. Not sure if it was made by Mizuochi san, Iwasaki san, or a combination of both masters. All I can say is its a wonderful shaver and feel like im using a piece of history in which way it was made. Attachment 184644

Iwasaki has not made razors himself for several decades.
I actually have three japanese Razor but im sure there will come more :-)
First my Toyo Hasimoto No.666 FB, you all know the number and yes thats the way it shaves, a hell of a Razor and one of the very best i own. Its a FB but not comparable with othe FB´s as it shaves like full hollow, the Tang and the Back are browned, the letters on the Back are Gold, got it nearly NOS, the pre-owner shaved with it only one time.

Second one is a HAIROP as avaible in a german Shop, NOS and 13/16" wide, also not comparable with classic FB´s, a very nice Shaver.

Third is a Yamamasa Kamisori with a width of 18mm, a nice one but i think im too stupid to shave with it, its sharp and does the HHT but i didnt hat success in shaving with since i got it :-(

Yes :-)
Do you know the Company?
Attachment 184701
Yes - the Toyo Hasimoto No.666 FB is an awesome razor, very smooth to shave with and I find it handles so nicely. I was lucky enough to get one NOS almost a year ago. One of my favorite blades, think I'll line it up for my next shave.

I have heard a legend about those 666's. To shave with one is bliss. You have then sold your soul! :roflmao
I own a Geisen and Forstoff 13/16 Adoration Deluxe 666 which gives a strange feeling as I reach near it. Like a weird magnetism.
I leave that one alone. Bad to the bone!
Here are my five samurai.
By the way could somebody help me I.d. the green one
My most recent acquistions, a Cherub 7 and a Cherub A38 kamisori grind. The Cherub 7 is an excellent shaver, but just had my first shave with the kamisori grind Cherub A38... WOW, I am very, very impressed!! Only my Feather DX loaded with Super Pro blades has given me a closer, easier shave!

I just picked up a Ribbon - I blame Jamie and his SOTD pic's. Are they decent? It's a Western style Folder. Not what I wanted but it looks like rocarule beat me out on eBay last week - I wanted that one but I guess not bad enough LOL...
Question to any of the Japanese experts. I did a search on this but found very little. I have just acquired a FON. However, and maybe its just a logo variation, I have seen razors clearly labeled FON and others FeON. The latter being presented with the e over O on the tang. Are these the same or do they come from entirely different manufacturers? The one I have states Kikuboshi Razor co. Is that the same both? And since there seems to be little written here about them other than in the SOTD threads, is there any consensus on them?
I just got it. My first hone attempt fell short. It was pulling a bit so I quickly put it down. Since then I have run it over the stones again and I can see there is a great improvement. Today I'll test it. The edge looks beautiful. I'll know more about how it performs in a couple hours. If anyone else has any other experiences with them, chime in.
Well, here it is. If there's no pic it didn't happen. Now after setting the bevel, honing it, and shaving with it, that its an outstanding razor. The edge is beautiful, very smooth. I know we always say that Japanese razors are awesome. This one is no different.

My memory is weak but this one looks familiar?
Anyway, I think FeON and FON were made by the same mother company for a stretch of time. I have seen both kinds with the same manufacturer stamped on the box. I have seen both with different makers stamped on the boxes.
Well whatever company is responsible, its a really nice shave. Thanks for the input though.
I have said it many times, Japanese straights are top notch shavers. I can't remember ever having a bad one. Some are harder to hone because they are hardened more but when one takes their time to hone the razors correctly, the edges are awesome.
They are some of if not the best razors to be found anyware the finish of the razors are something to be appreciated you cannot own enough of them, I know there are a few brands such as Iwasaki Tanfuji vintage Feathers and a few more that can command big prices but I'm still waiting for a general explosion of prices right across the board with the lesser known brands to be honest.
Nice score with that beautiful Pelican. They are a real treat to shave with. Yours looks pristine. Enjoy!
Beautiful razor, Mr. Magnus! Perhaps the star of a future shaving video?
Another King Pelican... this time, a #14.

Yes, I do!
I was the one that NOT won it! :)
It is a Kamisori grind, and should be awesome shaver.
Congratz
Let's hope so. I am really digging the scaled kamisori types and this along my hoshi tombo and my eiko will be my third.
