I just bought a Japanese KIYA ICHOGAKE JAPANESE KAMISORI STRAIGHT RAZOR

It seems that this is made of what is referred to as "Yellow Paper Steel"

I have done a cursory review online and it seems that there are different grades of steel in Japanese razors; Yellow Paper, White Paper & Blue Paper...can somebody explain what these mean and which is the best? Is yellow paper steel suitable for shaving? Or should I return in favor of the white paper steel?

Grip. Holding on to raw steel isn't the easiest task sometimes. I have an iwasaki that came wrapped and find it quite nice. If you don't like it you can always take it off, or wrap it with something more pleasing.
