That's very nice Jamie, like a Japanese version of your 3000. I know I have razors just as beautiful but your pictures always make mine feel inadequate... ;)
You are very right about the 3000, they are very similar in dimension and I've been told the 3000 by an older member of the TSR forum in the UK who was a Blade grinder who once worked for Taylors of Sheffield, that the 3000 was one of the very last razors they made, and they actually tried to make a better razor and more balanced by lengthening the tang & tail while slightly shortening the blade, and I must admit I really think they were onto something, because It certainly as great balance and feel to the razor, and is without doubt one of my favorites.
Jamie
My new one :)

thats a beauty, congrats.
ive just scored my first kamisori off da bay, hope its not in TOO bad nick when it arrives

a quite old Henkotsu
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps42a98b93.jpg
Wow, that Henkotsu looks like it has some stories to tell. I strongly recommend pulling off the tape when it arrives, so you can see if the seller was hiding anything, and to prepare it for a new wrap, if desired.
It might also be a candidate for some re-hollowing of the omote at some point.
I've become a bit of a Henkotsu cheerleader. Congrats on the acquisition.
Well, its here, that Henkotsu ... and under the yellow is green, and under the green is red [plastic tape]
and under that was some rather thick paper with kanji, which ive preserved some of, the non-gummy innermost layer any way
and under that, after ive scrubbed off the 'gummy' is a quite thin and interestingly subtly bent handle
well, this was fun to do, its now rust-free, and it was actually shinier than it appears in the vendor pics
in places .. most of it its quite roughly finished
defintely the most interesting razor ive ever handled and actually the edge seems not in too bad shape, considering
next im starting to get some stones in a row, pics when it shaves
trouble is, im now bidding on 3 even rustier ones ..
and im sure ive spotted another secret Henkotsu
2 latest :)

That Iwasaki is a monster. I have been curious about getting a Western style Japanese razor but haven't found a good shoulderless one for a reasonable price yet...
And here after some polishing with Jnats :)

isnt that the 80mm Iwasaki
whats the advantage of having the bigger bladesize?
im leaning myself toward a smaller brand-new one next
now i have a little honing experience like, on the old Henkotsu, im not so scared of knackering a new one
I've seen a few of your blades posted across the web Lezcha, they're beautiful!
I have a termasa kami I've been using lately, and a very worn out iwasaki western straight coming in the mail this week :)
Hoping to someday pick up one of lezcha's 'smiling' style kamis!
Looking to get a 7-day set of kamisori's all different ones. Have 4 right now! Here they are

Norio:

Hoping to complete the set eventually with the smallest Iwasaki (44mm?), Maybe the next size up and another 1 or 2 Tosuke's to complete my 7 day set! Hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for looking!
I could be off, but your "Azuma" prob is a Tosuke too ... I could be wrong though.
Henkotsu made very nice kamisoris too, if you want to try another brand (Iwasaki makes/made _very_ nice ones too, of course).
Nice colection
My newest a 45mm Iwasaki. Supposedly it is suppose to only be used for details but it works pretty fantastic for shaving the entire face, and I really like the small size.
