This is the razor I had in the mail - apologies for the rubbish lighting and razor smeared in oil. It is a kikuokan, and it is effectively a "shorty" with short blade, short tang! Handles very nicely, factory edge was ok, but needs a touch up.

Many Japanese blades are shorter than the equivalent blades over here. A two inch cutting surface is quite common on many of them and a 2 ½" edge or less is usual.

Yes - I suppose I meant it was a diminutive/scaled down razor. For example my other short blade razor has a normal length tang. This feels like a normal razor but shrunk in all of its dimensions. I suppose I haven't seen enough Japanese razors then!

I have one in a box somewhere, a "Rose". Small in every aspect with a 5/8 blade IIRC.

I don’t own any, but have had my eye on a Daishi 350. I herd they are excellent shavers. Only the $$$ has kept me away.

You always have the most superb japanese razors! Do you have a secret mystical source? I only ask because I never see them on ebay, or in the classifieds. Let me know when you thin out you iwasaki tamahagane herd
