After honing on my 1000grit diamond plate then two different Barbers hones, then up to around 10,000 on my American slate. Then stropping on my balsa with felt on one side. White compound on the felt & CroX on the balsa side I then stropped 100 round trips on my Koken Horse hide strop.
WOW, for a cheap razor all I can say is WOW. Time & light pressure are your friend in this type of work.

I got suckered by a 'bay seller. I asked if the #66 razors were GDs and he said "yes" so I bit and got two.
Well, i looked down the grind and I think the waves were almost 5 thousandths crest to valley. The spine on one was crooked and the other ground asymmetrically.
But, hey, I have two DA's!
Been awhile since the original HooHa and some of the DA's were very god and then, I think the GD's were the later version and are generally a lot better.
I saw some nice work here! Fun!

There's a saying in the UK, I don't know if it's heard of elsewhere: You can't polish a turd.
Ha ha, I like that. Here in the USA we sometimes say you cant make a silk purse out of a pigs ear

We do? I've always said can't polish a turd. Never head of the silk purse thing.
    State v. Durham, 323 N.W. 2d 243, 245 (Iowa 1982) (holding that a straight razor is per se a "dangerous weapon").
