The title "Silver Steel" has also been a generic in the UK for Tool Steels according to the machining forums. Tool steels are high carbon steels which are alloyed so as to sufficiently harden with differing quench medium. Like water, air, and oil. Then they are tempered in various methods from there.

James Johnson silver steel, 3/8 wedge. This is my first 3/8 razor. Around 1850 I believe

Thanked: 96This is my new Boker 6/8 from SRD. Saw Lynn using it in a video and raving about the shave. He was dead on. Great shaver. There is a lot of oil on it. Blade is shinning and beautiful.

Both are awesome shavers and both took sharp and smooth edges with relative ease. The tapered blade has become my new favorite.
