Not sure if this is someone elses work or what but the stamp reads
    E J EYRE & Co
    LATE W GREAVES & SONS
    SHEAFFIELD

Being a later (I think) wedgeless horn scaled chopper I'm assuming this is at the end of the Greaves line. Intriging razor with a Palm tree and the shield saying "Palmetto Razor" I'm happy

Eyre took over Greaves, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the ones thay say "Late Greaves" and the ones that don't... maybe leftover Greaves blanks?

Personally I think this would really nail down a "Date of Manufacture" one of those useless bits of knowledge I tend to run after I forsee many hours going over Greaves and Eyre razors

The Company was actually B. J. Eyre & Co. that purchased W. Greaves & Sons in 1850, and they continued to produce razors under the "Late W. Greaves & Sons" name until around 1858. Whether these were old Greaves blanks or new blades forged in the Greaves factory I do not know, though I can certainly say that the B. J. Eyre & Co. razor I have follows the classic Greaves shape - slight humpback to the tang and slight sway to the spine.

Here's a closer look at one of the Eyre/Greaves stamps:

I'd never owned a Greaves but always had admired them... Today I snagged two of them in my local area in the wild...

Here are some more Greaves for everyone to enjoy.
The first is my biggie from the first post in this thread after she was reworked.
Note one with the solid, engraved silver (I think) "butt"
The one with Foils and a thumbnotch was found for me on Craigslist by HarleyFXST
The one that says Cast Steel Warranted has Sheaf Works pressed into the scales

That is the newest addition to my Greaves rotation. I forgot to bid on one with the same blade on ebay, then that popped up BIN for less so I nabbed her. She'll need new scales; the pivot "pin" is a nail and the blade is extremely loose. I'll get to that one of these days....
