Thanked: 580Real awesome. I must give my one a bit of attention. I see a Palmera snuck in and posed on the end.

@ Grazor: you paid good attention, indeed it is so.
This thread is about the Candidius set: the one that snuck in perhaps should be featured in another topic of SRP.
Kindest regards, Jazor.

I found this one in Utrecht (Holland) today and I would like to share it with you.
Thank you all for the info you have put in so far, anymore is welcome.
There is no Solingen on the razor or the box.
regards, Anthony

@ Tonybee: thanks for posting that incredibly nice Candidius!
It is even over 7/8 which most Candidius I've seen hover around.
What about the shave and future plans you have with it?
Kindest regards, Jazor.

I honed her yesterday on a coticule and shaved with her this morning. She has a light warp and the hht was lacking on a small part of the edge with a thin hair but the shave was good. More like a near wedge than a regular #14. That spike point made me shave very cautious, I will probably round it a wee bit.
She is going to stay.

Anthony

Thanks for your feedback Anthony: sounds you've just "bonded" with your Candidius!
To "defuse" her spike a little you can gently scrape her spike along the side of a hone whilst making a "rounding" movement (from almost parallel to the edge to perpendicular to the edge).
Very gently does it already as the material is super thin and sensitive, so caution with the pressure.
The defused spike will for the naked eye still look like a MOAS (Mother Of All Spikes), yet under a 60 x look "rounded" so it won't "dig in" near the "danger zones" during your shave.
These Candidius razors are indeed somewhat more "wedge" than the bellied hollow # 14's you compared it with, also you will have noticed that the sound is totally different.
Kindest regards, Jazor.

So, here are the pics of my CANDIDIUS SR Made in SOLINGEN.
I also got it from a dutch preowner.
The blade was badly chipped, so I had to reduce it to a 5/8'' but it still an impressive straight razor.
Although I'm living in Solingen and collecting Straight Razors and other Cutlery, I can't tell you the manufacturer of this export razor.
It could be Baurmann, Ern, or Herder, but I can be wrong...Last edited by Solinger; 08-05-2013 at 07:34 PM.

@ Solinger: thanks for sharing those nice pictures with us! What amazes me is the uniformity of all the Candidius razors I've seen so far (apart from the blade width perhaps).
Makes me wonder if perhaps the production run in Solingen(?) was very short and only a sizable batch was made which was consecutively sold via a Dutch(?) distributor.
What amazes me most is how little information can be tracked on the whom, what, where and how of these very nice blades.
Kindest regards, Jazor.
