If your sale doesn't work out, let me know. I'd give you your ask for it.

I don't want to say anything else nice about it or it'll just increase the chance that you sale goes through! I should've kept my mouth shut about the oil.

Haha, it likely didn't help! This razor is near mint and so is the original box!

As a super long-time lurker and recent account maker for the purpose of likely giving someone on SRP some business, your note has driven me to make my first-ever SRP post.

I'll take the opportunity to thank everyone for teaching me how to strop, hone and shave properly over the last many years!

Congrats to the new owner. Extremely nice piece in great condition!

On a side note, I thought about putting the same "no lurkers" rule on my last two high-end sales. The first one went through very smoothly, and the second is going well so far (that razor is in the mail). In fact, now when I think about it, even a few of my (very) low-end sales went to 1st time posters.... makes one wonder, doesn't it...

The bad part is, you rarely ever get feedback in public, and sometimes not even via a PM.

I'll sell to anyone who is willing to use paypal on its normal conditions (with fee and all of the guarantees that go with that), as long as they will have the razor, stone, whatever shipped to their confirmed address. I've never had anyone file a claim on me for anything, but I have had some buyers who were a pain (one guy said he was happy and then a week later said his *wife* thought there was a problem with the stone that he bought, because it had a stable crack in that he was aware of. I think his wife found out that he spent money and vetoed, and I had to take the item back, but I'm OK with that).

Almost no matter what the situation is, I take an item back if someone doesn't like it. I have run across people who want money back instead and want to keep the item, but that's a slippery slope. I can tell they're trying to get a back-end coupon (not sure what else to call it) if they refuse to send the item back even when I won't give money back.

Maybe I'm missing something very basic here, Dave.

Here is what I'm thinking.... I use Paypal as means to an end. I don't want their protection in a community like this (ebay, or something like that is a different thing, and not in scope of this writing). I am happy to send and receive F&F, based on trust. As a seller, I never fail to deliver, so from that perspective I see no reason why someone shouldn't send me a F&F payment. We've already discussed it in the past, there are some bad buyers out there. They could file a claim against you, send you "something" back and Paypal will refund them, based merely on the fact that "something" was sent back. It could be junk, and there is no way for you to prove anything, so you lose both money and the item. At least this is my understanding.

My question is - completely misplaced in this thread, I'm sorry @prodigy - in a community like this, why do certain sellers keep insisting on G&S payments? Especially if they have a good reputation, are active in the forum, etc. Would it not be natural to demand trust, while being completely honest about what you're selling (and still offer money back, if something isn't right)? What do you gain by selling this way? How are you protected and what's the added value?
