3 Razors @ Yard Sale
Hi Friends - stumbled on these at a yard sale - found these 3 razors, 1) George Ibberson & Co, Firth Stainless (1 st razor), 2) Solingen Holeka 50 w/ brown / green scales, 3) H. Boker King Cutter.
Got them all for $40 Cdn...guy wanted $50, offered $40, he said OK. Figured I couldn't go wrong...
What does everyone think...I figured for $40 Cdn I couldn't get burned that bad...they're all in good shape, the George Ibberson (really like the violin stamp) seems virtually brand new.
Here's the pic of all three, sorry for the quality:

Thanked: 3225Good catch, falls in the category of you can't go wrong for sure. You'll have to take me yard sailing sometime.

Thanks! Going to send them off to get polished, repaired and honed...maybe they'll run into my DOVO at the shop, the one that I just used Tilex, Brasso, lemon juice, toothpaste and various other compounds to remove some soap / water spots. Ended up turning it a nice rusty, grey cloudy over the whole blade '-), but that was another thread!

Thanked: 1184Yes, I remember that thread. Did you ever sell that weapons grade metal remover ? Could be a large contract in it for you :<0)
I keep picturing a baggy of your mixture slammed against the back of a tank and 2 days later it's found on the road dead.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Hahahahaha!!
Now that was hilarious - thanks for the belly laugh!
Geez, for all I know, by the time it's gets there the whole razor will have dissolved....such a shame to. Just had my best shave, using all three strokes, not a speck of razor burn with the ATG, think it was shave 50 or so, and then I have to get all excited and decide to, "clean" the razor....looked in the mirror yesterday after putting it in the mail and the mirror called me a, "dumbass!"
So, not going to touch the two razors I bought myself, a brand new 5/8 TI Eagle and a 6/8 TI Spartacus with faux MOP scales until I figure out how not to destroy them. Mentioned yesterday that my old barber never wet his razor, just wiped it with tissue of a towel, that will be step one for me, as well as not soaking it in my scuttle...
Sheesh...

Thanked: 1184Well I am not sure what happened but I am as careless as can be and I have mostly Dubl Ducks. I never let anything get wet as far as pivot and scales but the blade is wet the minute you touch your face with it so what could more water do ? I do stick to 2 basic chemicals for maintenance and that's wd40 and Blue Magic polish. If you need more than that then you better study up on restoring technique. Of course others have their methods of feeling safe and they live in other climates with other factors to consider. Yours was a small blunder believe me, and if you sent it to some one from SRP they will take care of it for you I am sure. Water + blade I don't see any problem if you wipe it dry before you put it away. Mixing chemicals I think you just learned all about.
If I hear a loud boom in the distance I will be thinking about you :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
