I guess it depends on 'luck of the draw' or maybe on the skill level of the honer. I haven't had one made in Spain, but I do have a Solingen made H&R from maybe 10 years ago. It is a real good razor and like the new ones but made in Solingen. I also have a pre-WWII H&R and it is a great razor. Glad you got a good one. At that price it would be hard to beat. The few reviews I've read on the Spain made H&Rs weren't complimentary.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well... I would not call it a great razor... Better than a gold dollar thats for sure... I think i was lucky as well... See i got it because i wanted a razor made in spain and i cant pay for a filarmonica at the moment :/
And i wanted to up my honing skills but i didnt want to practice on a super cheap Chinese or practice on a very nice razor! The razor has been good to me thou! And it shaves as good as my Ralf and my vintage boker! Now i want a vintage H&R!!! Lmao
