Beach Living and Razor Protection
I live less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean and I was having a conversation with an acquaintance who is a heavy equipment mechanic at a construction facility that is over a mile from the beach and also elevated on a large hill (small mountain; depending where you're from). He was remarking that he has a heck of a time with corrosion and rust on his equipment, specifically on connections for brake lights, turn signals, etc.
Now I know you're thinking what the heck do lights and turn signals have to do with razors? It wasn't the lights I was worried about, it was the busbars that are made out of stainless steel. While he's talking and telling me his tale of woe, all I could think about was my razors back home. There they are, sitting there. In a bathroom. Exposed to not only possible humidity but sea salt air!!!
Now here is the question for you, dear forum members:
- Should I store my razors away (sadly) where I can't see them with some type of desiccate?
- Should I keep them (proudly) on my bathroom window sill in their handy, dandy acrylic pen holder? Their only drying method is stropping after use and stop worrying so much.
- Should I keep them (still proudly) on my bathroom window sill but keep them oiled them with Camellia oil?
Thanks all SRP folks for the great insights I've gotten so far and I'm sure I'll keep learning.

I live 8 miles from the ocean and I keep mine out of the bathroom. Leaving them in a humid environment is a chance I wouldn't take.

Thanked: 4827I live on an island and yup everything outside rusts and then rusts some more. I wax and oil my razors and never take them to the beach or leave them outside. So far mine seem to be fine. I think a lot of it is about being sensible and watching the humidity.

Great responses, thanks! It looks l"ll have to move out of the bathroom. I'm also considering getting a hygrometer just to see what the numbers are.
