Richard Schmitz, Solingen, Friedrich-Wilhelm-Strasse 53 in 1939. Brand name: 'Caschmiso', 'World Shipper'. Open-blade razor maker.

I think that Carl and Richard Schmitz were related - I have read that they were brothers on another forum.

Both shared the same address:



The above is from the archiving industry site and shows that Carl was at the Friedrich Wilhelmstr. 53 address first (in 1922 and 1925, then in Katternbergerstrasse 177 in 1939), so he was probably the older of the two.

The Solingen addressbook for 1931 does not list either as at that address in that year, but does mention another man:



the abbreviation 'kfm' for occupation means he was a sales- or accounts manager for Carl Schmitz & Co. The address is the residence of Wilhelm Gross, not that of the company.

Here is a Carl Schmitz 'caschmiso' razor (NB: the name obviously comes from Carl: CArl SCMHitz SOlingen)

havent got much time lately but cleaned up the cashmiso a little bit and its allready a bit better now but will post a pic of it soon.
