Thanked: 20Seeking info on this razor
I've had this razor for some time now and it's a very good shaver. I have been looking for history or maker information on it but have not found anything on it. On the blade it has "Superior Quality" "La Porte Germany" "hollow ground" the blade is 6/8" width. On the tang it has a number (59) and either IA. or LA Porte Solingen on it. Here is a pic of the razor and any info or history would be appreciated, thanks.

Just a shot in the dark but the 1a refers to the type of steel used, silver steel I think. Clauss was an American company that made razors so another guess would be they also imported razors too at one time.

Thanked: 20I apologize but I made a mistake on the back of the tang, it has "IA. Clase " and "Solingen". I looked at it again and this is correct.

Thanked: 3224No sweat, Forget about what I said about Clauss then but I'll stay with what 1A means. Have you tried looking here Razor makers for a maker or trademark that matches up?

I'm guessing Ia means 1st class. Just an advertising thing.
I'm also guessing it a generic Solingen razor. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 20OK, but I don't think it's a generic Solingen, but a Solingen generic razor, that I do believe, and it's what I meant. No wrong taken just want to clarify this. I do believe it is a good Solingen German generic razor and would like to know more info and history on it since I do like the way it is a very good shaver, just curious I suppose. Thanks to all.

Would it be possible to add an additional photo that shows closer detail of the logo inside the circle on the tang and scales?
