Thanked: 1263Is there anything on the other side of the tang? Alot of old straights were made by distinguished makers but rebranded by hardware and department stores...this may be the case with yours.

Thanked: 1263Made in Germany but sold in Wayne MI...probably rebranded. If it's made in Germany it should be a fine razor. A closer/clearer pic of the blade might help determine the condition of the blade...is that rust on it? And if so does it follow the pattern of the shades in the scales? If so that'd lead me to believe the celluloid is starting to break down (cell rot) not good for a blade.

A.M. White was a retailer in Wayne, MI. Perhaps he sold hardware, barbering supplies, cutlery, etc.. In the first half of the last century inexpensive German made razors glutted this country and drove many American razor makers out of business. Mom and Pop's Hardware Store in Wild Turkey, WY could order a dozen or so straight razors with "Mom & Pop's Finest Razor" stamped on the tang and a printed box thrown in. There were many German makers putting out these razors, so there is no way to know who actually made them. And the "Made in Germany" mark is no guarantee of quality since Mom & Pop probably shopped around for the lowest wholesale price. As far as value goes, it is whatever the market says it is. Someone from Wayne, MI may bid on your razor for nostalgic reasons. Someone named White may want it for that reason. But, your razor has no wide collector's appeal, so you should just probably re-list it with a proper description this time and see what it brings.
