Don't know about shipping, but all razors from Revisor are honed by hand, bevel set on a synthetic followed by naturals (as illustrated here). So they should at least shave comfortably, I have heard nothing but positive reviews in this respect.

Fwiw, mine came shave ready, and is one of my favorites. (Got a shoulderless thumb notched 6/8). When I wrote and asked them beforehand About it I was told all their razors ship shave ready.

Thanked: 3228I ordered a similar shoulderless thumb notched 6/8 last year and it was not quite shave ready as it came. It did take a small amount of tuning on the hones to get it where I considered it shave ready. I would not take it as a given that they come completely shave ready all the time. I have to say that once tuned to my satisfaction it shave very well.

Thanked: 0I ordered a new 6-0001 today (6/8)!
The process was quite simple. Site is in both Deutsch and English. Email address can be found on the "Contact" section of the Revisor site. Simply email and tell them what Item number it is that you wish to purchase. They sent a prompt email back including a PDF copy Invoice. Make your payment through Paypal at address provided in invoice email (and reference your Invoice number provided in the Notes section on Paypal) and you are all set to go. Can't wait to receive my new Revisor. Interested to see how long it takes. As if that isn't excitement enough, also have a nos vintage No.97 on the way inbound. ~ AndrewLast edited by Chacodude; 09-29-2013 at 04:31 PM. Reason: (sp)

Thanked: 3228Yea, that is a thumb notch alright. I have an almost identical Revisor and I love thumb notches but not the one on my Revisor so much. I don't know if they are all the same but the underside of the thumb notsh is rounded on mine and I find it not that great when flipping the razor while stropping. I have other razors with thumb notches that have squared and/or jimped undersides and no problems when stropping them. That is my only small quibble with my Revisor that I have.

Thanked: 734I received a new 7/8 a few months back and it was anything but shave ready. Under microscope the edge looked like a mountain range. It needed a new bevel for a total re-hone. But it took a nice edge and is a very nice razor. Considering the variety of styles, sizes, and tips, I highly recommend Revisor for someone looking at a new blade. It has to ship from Germany but it only took a few days to get here.
