New razor time! If you had $200 what would you get?
Like the title says, I'm shopping around for a new razor, it'll be my second. My budget is $200. I currently have my eye on a 6/8 Revisor Gold... But if you had an extra $200 to spend on a razor, what would you buy!?
Can't wait to hear your responses and broaden my window shopping a bit more!
Cheers,
Matty

Thanked: 11843 or 4 Dubl ducks for me.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I'd buy a nice vintage razor in our classified section, this would leave me with enough money left over for a good strop, shave cream, alum bar & maybe a brush too.

Thanked: 603- "New" as in brand-new, recently manufactured, sold for the first time?
- "New" is in NOS (New Old Stock)?
- "New" as in "Hey, it might be "previously-owned", but it's new to me!"
Three different-colored horses, these. For my $200, I'd choose Door Number Three (with the proviso that it's been "vetted" here on SRP -- either by a member user, or a member vendor). More specific? I'd wait until I found a 6/8" (± 1/16"), wedge/near-wedge, with a French/oblique or barber's-notch tip and the original wood or mottled-horn scales... that someone else has already made "purty" and shave-ready.You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

All 3 doors are options as far as I'm concerned. I'd sure love to stumble upon an old Clauss USMC.

That is a very collectable razor. Probably cost you the $200 or maybe more if it was in real nice condition. If I was wanting one I would probably put a WTB in the classifieds and keep an eye on ebay. For a different razor I'd keep a lookout in the classifieds for the "right" one. Like JB said, you'll know it when you see it.

I'd get a couple razors. Probably a Duck and an Otto Deusche in mint condition.

Half of that amount got me this lot from the Bay (plus a Swaty barber's hone):
Albeit, at least 2 of those six will require major edge restoration but still...
