If it was a fake they did a great job. Also would it be a one off fake ? I mean you'd see a slue of like razors on the bay and the internet. Looks like the real Mc'Coy to me too.

If it's a fake you should feel privileged to have such a rare and beautiful razor.

I have one that is almost exactly like it down to the same spine pattern. Everything that I can see looks right.

I have seven Friodurs and they all shave well and are easy to maintain. Most days, I shave with a 5/8 Friodur 70 1/2 round point. I love the fact that they shave well and that I need not continuously concern myself about possibly finding stains and rust despite wiping, drying, and oiling my carbon steel razor, if I missed water getting in between the scales. No worry about gold wash and etchings being irreparably damaged by water. Yes, I take great care to never let water get in between the scales of my razors while shaving or honing, even with my Friodurs.

I have even more carbon steel razors which I like and use but, consider the average appearance of vintage Friodurs and the average appearance of vintage carbon steel razors seen in the market place.

    Good luck, nice razor.

You have to be careful still because stainless steel does not mean no rust at all ever. It takes a lot more for stainless to rust compared to carbon, but I have seen rusty Friodurs.

Your "friend" was doing some jealous rationalizing.

Just exactly where does your friend gain his knowledge from? I will say the Henckels has kitchen knives produced in Germany, Spain and China. I could see fake Chinese made Henckels branded kitchen knives but doubt that they would go to the trouble to fake a straight razor. As other have said yours looks very nice and appears to be the real deal.

What about this one currently for sale? The logo is off and the box looks like other Chinese ones I have seen...

Did your "friend" offer to spare you the trouble of dealing with a "fake" and take it off your hands, op?

Henckels used the single man symbol to signify Henckels made products "not" made in Germany but elsewhere. I was unaware that they may or may not have produced straight razors in a country other than Germany. I can read the stampings on the tang either. Be interesting to find the answer to that.
