Thread: NOS Use and Lose

My thoughts to a T. I would never touch a perfectly NOS razor. I'm a collector, but also interested in history. I want to know what things looked like new. It's something quite special, to have something exactly as it was manufactured, from 100+ years ago. While not NOS, same goes for blade finishes. I have a few early 1800s razors that have their original finishes on them. Even if there is some rust, I won't risk altering the finish because it's important to me to have a benchmark of what it looked like new. I have plenty of other razors I can shave with.

Thanked: 884I own one NOS razor. It was made by a company that I think very highly of and that went under in 1928. I carry one of their pocket knives every day. I also have another razor by the same company that I occasionally shave with.
As for this one?
It's made it this far without getting used and it'll make it a bit farther as long as I own it.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

And what if the NOS razor is shave ready? All you'd have to do is strop it, shave, dry, put back. If you keep it for Sundays only, you should be able to get a few years of use out of it. You wouldn't see the difference, but still have the fun. Or would you refuse?
