Your One razor NOS unicorn would be????
While sitting and honing a couple razors this weekend (while SWMBO was out of town on work) I often catch myself thinking of the history in all my stable and thought about things like what was the world like 200ish years ago when some of my razors where made....easily over 2000 years of razors lay before me. Like the fact they were no more then what are the equivalent of a toothbrush to us today. Disposable and of no real value other then the task at hand. Could anyone have thought that 200 years later they would be such prized possessions??
I also thought what it would be like or mean to me to find and 150-200+ year old original W&B, Sheffield, Boker, Fischer etc...
That being said, what would be the one razor(just one people) that if you found in an unopened box, would move to your 'unicorn" and all the rest of your life of RAD would be complete?"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

For me, I just picked up something I never thought i would own, a stub tail in excellent restorable condition, circa 1800. It will be newish when I get doen with it. So I guess my Unicorn is in my box right now...

It would have to be something obscure. Probably German or British, but possibly American, made by early immigrants. Big and finely ground. Would not know it until I saw it though! Horn scales! Slightly smiling edge. It is lovely in my mind!
I do have several I consider to be irreplacable, not brand new condition, but close!
I don't ever expect to find examples of them new-in-box, so I am well-satisfied!
I do get satisfaction of holding them and shaving while contemplating their history.
I often wonder about some which have obviously had only one owner who treated it properly. Who, and where were they? Who kept the razor in fine condition for a century so that I may be lucky enough to be the conservator of it?
Love the oldies!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Sounds like ur describing the mappin bros 1848 lancet edge that on the bay now. It's English, big, finely ground and obscure... Not to mention its grind gives the best of both worlds, heavy like a wedge with the concave of a full hollow...
Ie been eyeing that one, but have my funds committed to another razor at this point.......... Making Old Razors Shine N' Shave, Once Again.
